The Qur’an is the final testament to mankind revealed to Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in the 7th century. It is the central religious text of the Islamic faith and is the verbatim word of God revealed to the Messenger of Allah (SAW) through Angel Jibreel (AS) (Gabriel) gradually over a period of 23 years. The Qur’an declares Islam as the SOLE religion before God ; the same religion practiced by all prophets from Adam, Nuh (Noah), Ibrahim (Abraham), Isa (Jesus) all the way to the seal of the prophets, Muhammad (SAW).
The Qur’an was revealed in Arabic, a Semitic language originating in the Middle East and the native tongue of the seal of the prophets, Muhammad (SAW). The Qur’an has remained preserved, unchanged from the time of revelation to today. It is recited and memorized in it’s ENTIRETY by millions of people across the face of the Earth, across a myriad of peoples.
Verses from the Qur’an are also employed during Salah (Prayers) ; the opening chapter (Fatiha) is recited in every rakaat and no Salah can be valid without it.
This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allah -Who believe in the unseen, establish prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them, And who believe in what has been revealed to you, [O Muhammad], and what was revealed before you, and of the Hereafter they are certain [in faith]. Those are upon [right] guidance from their Lord, and it is those who are the successful. Indeed, those who disbelieve – it is all the same for them whether you warn them or do not warn them – they will not believe.
Surah Baqarah 2:2-4
